What services are included with a bath and/or groom?

Please see our SERVICES page for detailed information on what each bath and groom includes

How much does it cost?

There are many variables that will determine the cost of grooming for your dog. Prices will vary depending on the breed of dog, their size, coat type, what condition the coat is in, desired hair cut, when they were last groomed, how long it takes, and their behavior/temperament. We will be happy to quote you a price range over the phone.

I think my dog is matted. What do I do?

Most frequently, matting happens from lack of brushing, brushing improperly, using the incorrect tools for your dog's coat type, or if your dog gets wet from bathing/swimming/rain without being properly brushed out beforehand. Generally, if you cannot get a fine metal comb through your dog's coat with no resistance, than it is likely that they are matted and may require a shave down to start over. We will assess your dog's coat at drop-off and discuss options with you for the groom. If the matting is easy to get out and safe for your dog, we will de-matt. If the matting is severe and painful/uncomfortable for your dog, we will shave him/her down and start fresh.

In either case, remember that it's just hair and it WILL grow back!

How often should my dog be groomed?

Generally we recommend every 4-6 weeks for haircut dogs and 6-10 weeks for bath dogs. However, this will vary by each individual dogs needs, how much time you spend brushing/maintaining your dog at home, how long or short you would like to keep their coat, etc. We can better answer this question with you in person.

How long will by dog be there?

We do our best to do each individual dog from start to finish which eliminates the need for them to be here all day or spend time waiting in a crate. We find both the dogs and their owners are much happier this way. Depending on the size and coat type of your dog, they are generally with us from 1-2 hours.

Should I tip my groomer?

Tips are appreciated, but never expected.

Will my dog be crated?

Yes, your dog may be crated for a short amount of time. We do each dog start to finish to reduce the amount of time the dogs need to spend in the crate. Most of the time, they are only crated for a short time when they are finished and waiting for you to come pick them up.

Can I stay with my dog while he/she is being groomed?

We do not allow the owners to stay in the salon while their dog is being groomed. We have found that it actually causes more stress on the dog as they spend most of the time trying to get off of our tables and to their owners. This actually makes it more challenging for us to groom them safely and efficiently, but also takes away from the time we spend bonding with your dog and building a trusting/personal relationship with them.

What vaccines are required before my dog/puppy comes to The Soggie Doggie?

Please see our POLICY page for require vaccinations.

I got a new puppy! When should we start grooming?

The sooner the better! As soon as your puppy has all three rounds of the puppy vaccines (DHPP) they are safe to come in for grooming. Their first impressions of grooming will last a lifetime. It is important for them to come in while they are young so we can spend as much time handling them as possible at their most impressionable ages. This gives us a chance to ensure their first visits with us are happy and positive.

We frequently do baths only for their first time with us so we do not over stimulate them with the stress of a full grooming. This is why we recommend not waiting until your dog is 6+ months before taking them to a groomer. By that point, they are often big, scared, and unsure of what is happening which ends up creating a very stressful experience for them which can lead to problems in the future.

What is a Zoom Groom?

A Zoom Groom is a service where your dog is done start to finish with no crate time at all. These appointments are first thing in the morning and it is an extra charge for this service. We do require that you remain in your parked car and ready to pick up the dog as soon as he/she is ready.

This is a great option for dogs with extreme anxiety, senior dogs who have trouble with the grooming process, dogs who are uncomfortable around other dogs or in a noisy environment, or dogs with owners who are uncomfortable leaving their dogs for extended periods of time, and clients who are looking for a Fear Free grooming experience.
